Ian established The Parenting Place helping to set parents up with tools to enable them to better raise and relate to their children. Especially promoting the roles of fathers and encouraging positive male role-models for children to have in their lives.
Originally called Parenting with Confidence, the Grant's (Ian and his wife Mary) operated at first out of an office above their garage. Using the experience they had gleaned from decades of youth work and raising their own family, they put together parenting seminars that were extremely well received, right from the outset. Quickly they drew around them a team and broadened the scope of their operations. Now The Parenting Place has 72 staff around the country, offering a wide range of services such as community events, short courses, magazine, family coaching, workshops and high school programmes.
